What is a Peel?

The Peel (facial peel) is what happens when a chemical is applied to the skin to enhance the appearance of the skin. It is considered to be a medical - aesthetic procedure.

What does it entail?

The Peel involves stripping the skin, normally with a chemical, that uncovers layers of new skin once the dead skin cells have been removed from the area being treated. This tightens the skin and visibly improves the skin tone and complexion and it eliminates tiny wrinkles and blemishes.

¿How does it work?

When the treated skin is “peeled” the dead skin cells are removed which therefore eliminates any blemishes and also regenerates new skin by stimulating the fibroblasts which are the cells that produce collagen and elastin.

For what types of blemishes is it most effective?

It is effective in facial rejuvenation treatments, spots, fine lines and tiny wrinkles, etc.

Are there any side effects?

No, but like all medical treatment, it has to be done by a professional who has experience in medical aesthetics to minimize the risk of side effects.

Will it disrupt my daily routine?

No, hardly anyone will notice your skin flaking off, provided you follow our advice. You will be able to go back to work and resume your social and family activities immediately. As with almost all aesthetic medical procedures, facial peeling is very effective because it is used together with other facial rejuvenation treatment, such as fillers, Botox, laser rejuvenation, facial biostimulation, etc. There are several types of peels that vary in depth: superficial, medium and deep. The latter should only be performed in hospitals and under general anaesthesia in very specific cases. The other types of peels are outpatient procedures.
